Kung Fu High Belt Grading Nov 18 2012

On Sunday November 18th Five of Kitchener Kicks put on their game faces and entered the club with the goal of completing their grading and living to tell about it. The good news is the are all still alive, tired, exhausted, sore, aching, but alive. And yes they also came out with some new belts and sashes! Although I was unable to attend I followed along as Peggy Day provided updates. The first one was an hour after starting the grading and went like this. An hour in and the warm-ups are done and starting drills. the second an hour later " kicks blocks - lots of drills  -  still hanging in there."

Hour four

Its starting to show on them they are tired and have to dig deep....starting forms........Waterloo kung fu shows up to help with sparring.

In the end all survived and we now have a new green sash Gabriella, a new brown belt Tyrus, Hailey and Chantel getting their blues, and the newest SIFU: Raquel. Congratulations to each of you.

NMAC tournament Nov 16-17 2012

Wow that was a busy weekend! A two day tournament followed by a high belt grading. I'll separate the posts to focus on each one as they both deserve their own. I'll start with the tournament. This tournament took place Nov 16th and 17th with most of the competitors staying over Friday night to enjoy the pool, some dinner, and a movie back in the rooms for the kids. 7 o'clock Friday night things got started with some Irish stick fighting (crazy stuff) followed by elite competitions, syncro forms and team forms as well as kung-fu forms and weapons. The competition was tough in all categories, with several black belt teams in the mix. The Scarlet dragons held their own and came out with some medals!

Of the 47 medals taken home by the Scarlet Dragons 6 were GOLD and 13 SILVERS with the rest being many 3rds 4ths and 5ths, Several members also racked up some petty impressive NMAC point medals in 6 of 8 events entered. Sigung has every right to be proud! Job well done team!!
